There's no better way to learn about wine than tasting comparatively, talking about it while you're tasting it ("so that's why this wine tastes different than that!"), and hearing about the wine's background. (Plus, it's the most fun you'll ever have learning something.)

"Cru Night" with Tasca d’Almerita’s Rosso del Conte - Wednesday, June 3 (both MPM and Shorewood)
Served all day at both locations
Renowned Italian importer Winebow has a super-cool restaurant / bar program that they do a couple of times a year, and we're thrilled to be a part of it on Wednesday, June 3 at both our MPM and Shorewood locations! Basically, we get to pour a really expensive, well-aged wine from a 3-liter bottle at a very reasonable cost to you! For this edition is Tasca d'Almerita's 2006 "Rosso del Conte" from Sicily, a delicious Nero d'Avola-based blend.

From the Winebow web site: "In the late 1960s, founder Count Giuseppe Tasca wanted to make a truly Sicilian wine that could age like the great international red blends such as Bordeaux and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. After selecting the fruit from the best parcels and experimenting with careful oak treatment (something unheard of in Sicily at that time), Rosso del Conte was born. Today, Rosso del Conte still stands as a revered icon among Sicilian reds and continues to be made from the very best selections of the old-vine estate vineyards."

Normally this wine poured from a three-liter bottle (larger format bottles are prized for their ageability, but also have a higher-production cost) would be $40 per glass, but with this promotion we're able to offer it for half-price - only $20 per glass for one of Sicily's iconic wines, perfectly aged, from a Jeroboam! Available all day on June 3 at both locations, so stop in for this very special treat!

Exploring Domestic Pinot Noir - Tuesday, June 9 (MPM) & Wednesday, June 10 (Shorewood)
Seatings at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at MPM; 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood
It's been a while since we've had a tasting focused on U.S. examples of one of our favorite grapes, Pinot Noir, so it's time to rectify that! Inherently fickle, ethereal, and haunting, with flavors and aromas of cherry, strawberry, umami, loam, forest floor, mushroom, spice, and so much more, when grown in warmer spots for the varietal it can also take on richer, more robust notes. For this tasting we'll taste several examples from Oregon's Willamette Valley and up and down the California coast, in a range of styles and prices. The wines will be similar yet different, and all delicious! Wines TBD.

Cost of the tasting is $20 + tax. Seatings are at 6 and 7:30 p.m. at MPM and 6 & 8 pm at Shorewood. RSVPs are required; a credit card is required to secure your reservation. (If you call to cancel by 3 p.m. the day of the tasting, your card will not be charged. If you are on the wait list, we'll notify you by 3 p.m. if space has become available.) To RSVP for either location email info@thiefwine.com or call us at 414.277.7707.

Sauvignon Blanc around the World - Tuesday, June 23 (MPM) & Wednesday, June 24 (Shorewood)
Seatings at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at MPM; 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world's most popular and widely grown white wines, with crisp acidity, citrus flavors, and an ability to flourish almost everywhere. Yet not all Sauvignon Blanc is created equal, and different regions produce wines with an exceptional diversity of flavors. For this tasting we'll explore Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand, France, California, and more to discover just how varied this wine can be. The wines will be:

Cost of the tasting TBD. Seatings are at 6 and 7:30 p.m. at MPM and 6 & 8 pm at Shorewood. RSVPs are required; a credit card is required to secure your reservation.
