 There's no better way to learn about wine than tasting comparatively, talking about it while you're tasting it ("so that's why this wine tastes different than that!"), and hearing about the wine's background. (Plus, it's the most fun you'll ever have learning something.)


Exploring Zinfandel - Tuesday, February 21 (MPM) and Wednesday, February 22 (Shorewood)

As we're (hopefully!) transitioning out of winter, it's still Zinfandel weather. This full-bodied wine is rich, hearty, and perfect for for the chilly temperatures. Please join us as we discuss the grape's origins and characteristics and taste through several Zins starting with a Primitivo from Italy and then focusing on several examples from throughout California. The wines will be:

Portfolio Tasting with Winemaker L.J. Brimfield - Thursday, March 2 (MPM)

Please join us on Thursday, March to meet and taste wine with L.J. Brimfield, winemaker of the new 60 Souls winery in Willamette Valley Oregon. Formerly of the renowned Evening Land winery, L.J. split off to focus on his own project with the goal of crafting a high-quality Pinot Noir at an exceptionally reasonable price. And in addition to his own wine, we'll also be pouring a few wines from that supplier's portfolio. It'll be a fun tasting! The wines will be:

Art & Wine at St. Monica Parish - Saturday, March 4 (@St. Monica's)

Thief Wine will be providing and pouring wine at "Art & Wine", the annual fundraiser for St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay. It's a great event, with fantastic wine (including a new Reserve Room this year) and the chance to bid on exquisite art, with proceeds going to St. Monica. Of course you want some delicious Merlot! Smooth, full of lush plum and berry fruit, what's not to like? Oh, the sea of bad Merlot out there - thin, simple, possibly slightly weedy - right. Don't let the bad wines ruin it for the others, though; when done well Merlot can be absolutely delicious. For this tasting we'll taste through several examples (both Merlot-based and 100% Merlot) from around the world. Go against the grain - drink Merlot! Wines TBD.

Do you like fantastic single-vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Noir? Do you get excited about tasting four different examples from the same producer and vintage and diving into what makes each one different?Great - so do we! Please join us as we taste through a delicious lineup of wines from St. Innocent Winery, one of our favorite Oregon producers. St. Innocent is a throwback in the best possible sense of the word; the wines are elegant, food-friendly, structured, and truly speak to a sense of place. Specializing in single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Alsatian white varietals, winemaker / owner Mark Vlossak consistently crafts compelling and delicious offerings, and we're proud to showcase his wines. This is a casual drop-in tasting, but the wines are serious! The wines will be:

Thief Wine's Spring Grand Tasting - Saturday, April 29 (MPM)
Thief Wine is thrilled to present our annual Spring Grand Tasting, a fantastic walk-around tasting featuring more than 120 delicious and distinctive fine wines from around the world, on Saturday, April 29. All wines will be selected by Thief Wine and reflect our focus of artisanal, high-value, terroir-driven selections (i.e., not the mass-production wines you see at most large wine tastings), with retail prices ranging from $15-$50 per bottle. Live music, light appetizers, and your own Riedel wine glass to keep are included!

There are two ticket levels, and both are all-inclusive - once you get a glass, you're welcome to sample whatever you'd like. Tickets are now on sale - get yours today!

General Admission ($65, tax included) includes admission from 5:15 - 7:30 p.m., with the chance to sample and enjoy the 120+ wines, grouped among roughly 16 tables. Tickets are limited to 125. It's pretty awesome.

Reserve Level ($95, tax included) includes earlier access to the event, with entry at 3:30 p.m., a more intimate experience (tickets are limited to 75), and 15+ additional, higher-end wines - in addition to the wines that will be poured throughout the entire event, each pouring station will have an additional luxury-level wine that they will be pouring for the Reserve Level only. General Admission event hours are included in the Reserve Level ticket. Even more awesome.
