There's no better way to learn about wine than tasting comparatively, talking about it while you're tasting it ("so that's why this wine tastes different than that!"), and hearing about the wine's background. (Plus, it's the most fun you'll ever have learning something.)

Masterful Malbec - Tuesday, April 19 (MPM) and Wednesday, April 20 (Shorewood)
Seatings at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at MPM; 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood
Malbec has been one of the most popular varietals in the shop since we opened eight years ago, and shows no signs of waning. It's full-bodied but with moderate tannins, abundant fruit but not overly jammy (at least in the good examples), and is generally an excellent value, For this tasting we'll sample through several wines from Argentina and France (the home of the grape) in a range of styles and prices - join us to explore the many facets of this grape! The wines will be:

  • Marc Roman 2014 Malbec, Vin de France ($9.95)
  • Chateau Chevaliers Lagrezette 2010 Malbec, Cahors France ($27.95)
  • Seven Hills 2013 "McClellan Estate Vineyard" Malbec, Walla Walla Washington ($22.95)
  • Elsa Bianchi 2015 Malbec, Mendoza Argentina ($9.95)
  • Altocedro 2013 "Reserva" Malbec, Mendoza Argentina ($29.95)
  • Altocedro 2012 "Gran Reserva" Malbec, Mendoza Argentina ($47.95)

Cost of the tasting is $15 + tax per person. Seatings are at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at MPM and 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood. RSVPs are required; a credit card is required to secure your reservation. (If you call to cancel by 3 p.m. the day of the tasting, your card will not be charged. If you are on the wait list, we'll notify you by 3 p.m. if space has become available.) Email info@thiefwine.com or call us at 414.277.7707 (MPM) or 414.906.1906 (Shorewood) to RSVP.

There are two ticket levels, and both are all-inclusive - once you get a glass, you're welcome to sample whatever you'd like. Tickets are now on sale - get yours today!

Wines of South Africa - Tuesday, May 17 (MPM) and Wednesday, May 18 (Shorewood)
Seatings at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at MPM; 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood
South Africa occupies a unique position in the wine world, straddling the line between Old and New Worlds in terms of winemaking culture and flavor profiles - not as fruity as most New World wines but with more earthiness and minerality, yet fruitier than traditional wines from Old World regions. Plus, they grow Pinotage, one of the most distinctive grape varietals around. In this tasting we'll explore wines (red, white, and sparkling) and wine regions of this gorgeous country, tasting the major wines and styles that South Africa is known for. Wines TBD.

Cost of the tasting is $15 + tax. Seatings are at 6 and 7:30 p.m. at MPM and 6 & 8 p.m. at Shorewood. RSVPs are required; a credit card is required to secure your reservation. (If you call to cancel by 3 p.m. the day of the tasting, your card will not be charged. If you are on the wait list, we'll notify you by 3 p.m. if space has become available.) Email info@thiefwine.com or call us at 414.277.7707 (MPM) or 414.906.1906 (Shorewood).
